Lorena is a Paraguayan-American journalist who writes narrative features, in-depth profiles, and investigative news stories on politics, culture, and inequity.
She lives in New Orleans and is a contributing writer for Rolling Stone, with bylines in publications like The Los Angeles Times, Elle, and The Guardian.
Lorena is currently one of the Pulitzer Center’s inaugural StoryReach Fellows reporting on maternal health in rural Louisiana for The Louisiana Illuminator. Her first story for the project broke the news that misoprostol was being pulled off postpartum hemorrhage carts across the state, following a law reclassifying the drug as a controlled substance. In 2024, she won STAR’s Champion of Change “Exemplary Journalist” award for her print coverage of sexual violence.
